Today’s scientists are beginning to unravel many of the mysteries and codes behind the physical world, making it easier for us to understand. We know, for example, that all humans possess DNA, the genetic code that makes us each an individual. Our spiritual world, on the other hand, remains mostly incomprehensible.
Is it possible for our spiritual life to have the certitudes of chemistry and physics? If we have physical DNA, can we also have spiritual DNA? Does God have a genealogy with direct descendants on Earth? These are the questions I explore in my book Our Spiritual DNA.
I didn’t set out to answer these questions, but they were the constant white noise in my life. As I tried to discover who I was, I became increasingly fascinated with who everyone else was. Before long, I found myself on a quest to discover the true identity of an 18th-century diplomat and magician called Comte de St. Germain, a man who was long hidden in the shadows of the occult tradition and with whom I had become completely captivated.
Mysticism intrigued me. As a Catholic, that most supernatural and mystic of faiths, I was well versed in miracles, mysteries, and prophetic teachings as well as the prophets, who were able to have a direct experience of God, and others who were said to communicate with angels like Isaiah or saints like Theresa of Avila. Through their experiences, they provided me with fresh insights into the human dilemma. Why not ask them or other historical characters directly for firsthand accounts of what happened to them? Surely after their deaths, they would have all the answers. The question was, how?
I first heard of channeling when I read Shirley MacLaine’s 1986 book Dancing in the Light. It seemed to be a new name for the process by which prophets and saints were given insights and revelations during meditations or through their dreams. It appeared to be a way to stretch through time to gain answers and unlock history’s secrets. So I set out to find someone near me in Sydney, Australia, who could not only channel but channel beings who could answer my questions. And I found them.
My First Meeting with St. Germain
On a Sunday night, in a late Sydney summer, when the currawongs whistled to one another well after dark and the cicadas drummed hard, I sat waiting for Peter Abraham (channeller names changed to protect privacy), who I hoped would channel St. Germain. According to history books, Le Comte de St. Germain was a count in revolutionary France who lived from 1691 to 1712. Here was someone with an intriguing resume: adventurer, explorer, philosopher, scientist, alchemist, and magician. He was said to be extraordinarily intelligent, articulate, and widely published. He appeared to live many lives in one lifetime, and I was soon to discover that he had lived many lifetimes on Earth, too. St. Germain should be a man who had answers to my questions if Peter Abraham could channel him.
Of course, I was well prepared should he show up. I brought everything I thought I needed, including a list of questions, a tape recorder, a notebook, pens, and spare batteries. The birds and the barking dogs settled. Peter, together with friends, led an invocation, followed by a guided meditation and prayers to open a sacred space to allow beings of great power to come through and enter his body. First, a group of angels cleared the room, then a host of beings entered with both familiar and strange names: Master Kuthumi with Lady Portia, El Morya and Pallas Athene, Master Hilarion with Lady Nada, Djwhal Khul and Lady Leto, and Serapis Bey and Lakshmi. They would speak through Peter or his friend Michaela Clinton and guide others in the room. Their presence and their movement around the room were vividly described by Peter and by others who could “see” their unseen presence. St. Germain, however, was not among them.
Then a being called Lord Sananda entered, unannounced. Everyone except me seemed to know of Lord Sananda, but when he said, “I speak as Jeshua,” I felt the pulse of excitement go through the room.
He spoke gently, recounting a parable about patience and mercy using the Middle Eastern imagery of the natural beauty and fruitfulness of the vines, the vibrant color of the flowers, lilies of the field, and his love for his flock, his children. When he left, we remained in contemplation for a while until there was a rustle. The dog started barking loudly, and the cicadas joined him.
Someone new had arrived. St. Germain was here!
Only those who saw him clairvoyantly knew it was St. Germain. I saw nothing.
“What’s happening?” I mouthed to my friend. She whispered that a bearded man with glossy black hair and a violet cloak was in the room. He was spinning like a top and sparkled with amethyst and gold.
“He’s like an electric shock crackling through time,” someone else explained. After the calm of Lord Sananda, this was a dramatic entrance.
St. Germain spoke precisely and only through Peter. He offered advice and answered questions about healing, career progression, conflict resolution, dancing, music, and spiritual development. He appeared quirky but charming, compassionate, witty, and wise.
Peter, still channeling St. Germain, rose from his chair, came over to me and said, “Give me your hand.”
I was very reluctant to do so because I had been warned never to touch a channel while they were channeling for fear of causing them a shock.
“Give me your hand,” he insisted.
I held it out, and he kissed it. I was so surprised I snatched it back.
“Don’t you know who I am?” he asked.
“Yes, you are St. Germain, and you are a Master.”
“And what is that?” he asked.
Tongue-tied, I could not answer him.
I decided then to find out more about what it meant to be a Master and about St. Germain. That decision would take me to places I never thought I would go and would result in a relationship with St. Germain that would lead to my book and the uncovering of long-held secrets.
The Ascended Masters
In my first meeting with St. Germain, I experienced the Ascended Masters but realized little about who they were and why Peter Abrahams channeled them. In that session, St. Germain directed me to learn more, and what I discovered since was captivating.
The Ascended Masters are 12 energetic beings that have been star-seeded to Earth and whose spiritual DNA is spread into every human being here. The incarnations of the Ascended Masters are many, and they are rich with detail, purpose, and intrigue, much of which you will learn about in my book, just as I once did.
I consider my book to be a commissioned work. Once I had spent a few years diligently tracing St. Germain, Kuthumi, the world’s teacher, spoke to me unexpectedly through another channeler, Dr. George Litchfield. He told me to focus only on the lives of St. Germain and Mary, saying: “It is a powerful document you seek to undertake. Some will view it as heretical, some as a flight of fancy, and others with disbelief. However, we the Ascended Masters know and understand what it is. Our Spiritual DNA reveals the pathway back to God; it is a map that lives in your genetic code.”
When I agreed to explore more fully the lives of St. Germain and Mary, I assumed some being would dictate every word in the manner of Jane Roberts’s experience with the discarnate being Seth or Neale Donald Walsh, when writing Conversations with God, typing questions into his computer and instantly receiving the replies. For me, however, relevant information came as a fragment here or a morsel there. I was teased with truth to keep pursuing my goal. The revelations that I received through Dr. Litchfield are the basis for Our Spiritual DNA.
The purpose of my book can be found in the power of the stories of the lives of St. Germain and Mary. It opens the gates to dark houses filled with secrets and expounds a different view of the complexities and elegance of the spiritual universe.
In the beginning, my quest was to find and understand St. Germain and his mysterious line of descent as he experienced his lives on Earth and, in his role as an Ascended Master, to explore his connection to God. My spiritual hunt, however, led to buried treasure in the discovery of his feminine counterpart, Mary. I also learned of the myriad lives of all the Ascended Masters and discovered a direct link from you and me to God through each Ascended Master.
I found that each person on Earth, no matter how ordinary or extraordinary, is an aspect of one of these Masters and that the Platonic ideal of a quest for some perfect other half had a simple explanation. It’s one step from you to your higher self, which must be an aspect of one of 12 original Ascended Masters, and then it’s another step to God. But which Master are you? My book will help you determine your spiritual roots.
The ultimate purpose of Our Spiritual DNA is to know the unknowable, to know God, and to understand our spiritual and genetic connection to God and everyone else. It will help you discover your spiritual DNA and your lineage and unlock where you may fit into the universal pattern.
